I will be teaching an Honors course this spring at the University of New Mexico called "Zen & the Art of Beekeeping," which is essentially a cultural study of beekeepers and their practices.
I have 17 sophomore-level college students who will be required to meet one-on-one with a local beekeeper at least three (3) times during the semester (Jan-May). These meetings will involve:
- interviews
- observations, and
- (if the student chooses) participation in beekeeping practices. (This will be a mutual agreement between the student and their beekeeping partner.)
We are looking for all types. You can have one hive or one hundred hives. You can be a new or veteran beekeeper. What the students are most interested in is your passion for keeping bees. If you are interested in sharing your experience and appreciation for bees with students please send me an email and I will provide you with additional information. My email is monicamkowal[at]gmail[dot]com or my cell number is (505) 228-0137. Some of the students will also be at the Annual Meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you!
