Victory in Alamogordo

Last night the City of Alamogordo voted to allow beekeeping within the city limits. Beekeeping has been illegal there for the last 35 years. Beekeepers throughout the state took the time to call and write the Commissioners and the Mayor and voice their support of future beekeepers there.

You did it, you took the time to change the world in a small way, a little bit of our natural world will be coming back to the city.

Congratulations to the future beekeepers of Alamogordo! And…

Future beekeepers in Alamogordo thank you!

Many thanks to all of you who wrote to the Alamogordo Commissioners, they commented on the support from around the state. Special thanks to Paul McCarty of Black Mesa Honey Bees, you knocked it out of the park! Thanks again to Kate Whealen who did a fantastic radio interview. Because of you all, there will be beekeeping in the City of Alamogordo. It just feels good doesn’t it?

Thanks Rob. I would love to visit soon so I can learn what I need to do to prepare for this new hobby. I'm pretty excited. I have no supplies, so I will need to start working on that.

Hi Rob, that was a quick reply. I don't know the Duffys personally but have heard the name. As for the Mimbres, were you looking for someone that has bees out there or a place to keep bees? I have requested you as friend so I can email direct instead of posting comments. Again, if you do get a chance to make it out this way give us a heads up. If not soon maybe we can visit at the Conference in October. Stay well and bee safe.

Thanks, Rob, for your invitation to join the apitherapy group.  It might be a while before I include a picture and write a profile, but I am happy to take questions about bee venom therapy from other beekeepers.  I am not on Facebook or on line much but will try to check the comment wall frequently now that I  have access to it.     Have a safe 4th.

We have tentatively  rescheduled for May 29th in Ruidoso and May 30th in Cloudcroft.     Hope the  bears find other attractions until then...

Hi Rob! There's a small group of folks in the Silver City area who are looking to establish several home-based A. m. ligustica hives this spring/summer. We've been waiting on package bees we ordered by mail but were just informed by the supplier that they just had several shipments tragically cooked (killed) by UPS and will not be shipping any more soon. I have family in High Rolls and now we are wondering if anyone in the area can sell us a few packages or nucs of bees? A couple of us can drive out and get them whenever is convenient. We will be using reclaimed Langstroth hives from the Mimbres. Hoping to hear from you soon! Thanks very much.
