Here is another petition from Credo, I don’t see a conflict in signing two petitions, we sure could use the pressure.
My bees thank you!

Comment by Jessie Brown on May 8, 2012 at 7:56pm Here is the link to TJ Carr's top bar plans on this site under the "how to become a beekeeper section" http://www.nmbeekeepers.org/page/topbar-hive-plans. He recently just revised them within the last month or two, but he hasn't shared them yet as far as I know.
Will do!
Comment by Diana Calkins on May 8, 2012 at 6:44pm Done, Rob. Could you share TJ's plans with Robert? He is an excellent problem solver. I can't tell you how many engines he made fit into vehicles that they didn't belong in during his 45 years of being an auto mechanic. :)
I think that Robert's idea would work. TJ is going to send me a copy of his plans, my guess is that the bottom board is 12" also. A little nip here and there might make is work.
Great idea about the posting, Give it a shot Lady Di!
Comment by Diana Calkins on May 8, 2012 at 5:56pm Are TJ's hives more straight up and down than our Crowder hives? Robert asks. If they are at the same angle, Robert suggests: If we put a temporary 1 or 1 1/2" shim along the top of our Crowder hives, that would eliminate the problem of Ken's comb depth fitting into our hives. Eventually we could work them into a Crowder hive? Any thoughts on this??? Perhaps this question should be posted on the NMBKA facebook page and see how others have dealt with this?
Comment by Kent Huisingh on May 8, 2012 at 5:30pm We should all use the same size top frames. As Rob said it will be much easier to trasfer our equipment between us. If you want to see different size top bars go to 'ebay' and do a search. You can find just about any size except Les's. So we should standardize ourselves.
Ouch! The plot thickens…… I just spoke to TJ Carr who makes Ken’s top bar equipment and he is using 12” lumber instead of 10” lumber which makes his fully drawn combs about another 1-1/2” longer than ours. Feels kind of like being in the 70’s again, VHS or Beta. It may settle out someday, there may be a standard for top bar hives, but there is not one now. Pat yourself on the back for being an early adopter.
I will run up to Bosque Farms for the free seminar and NMBKA meeting on Saturday, both TJ and Les should be there. I like my Crowder hives, I am going to stick with them, there has got to be a way to buy nucs for them. Stay tuned.
Comment by Paul McCarty on May 8, 2012 at 2:13pm I have some hives I will be splitting soon, but they are on Lang frames. You could shake them, I guess, but I don't particularly relish doing it.
Comment by Diana Calkins on May 8, 2012 at 1:06pm Are they Langstroth nucs, with frames or topbar? If Langstroth, that could be a problem.
