NewBeeRescue class
I attended a class put on by Phill Remick of NewBeeRescue up in ABQ.
Phill is an ex apiary inspector for Fresno Co. and has tons of experience, especially with commercial operations. The class was 2 hours at the home of an Abq. Beek. First half is discussion and the second half is opening up hives.
Phill is very enthusiastic, and the $35 cost of the class was well worth it. This is geared towards very beginning beeks, so if you don't have much experience (like me) it's a great help to have someone point out things like a good vs. poor laying pattern, supercedure cells, drone cells, spotting eggs (lots of people have trouble with that!), etc.
I'm going to send Phill a msg and ask him if he would be interested in putting on a class a little closer to southern NM.

Thanks for the positive feedback and joining the activities, it was a fun class. Today I killed those two bum queens we encountered during the class last Sunday, will install the new queen cages later tomorrow and release them next week.
About a class in the south...I have sent an e-mail to your private address so we can discuss this more- if there is a need and I can make it, I would be honored to help. Would need some hives, Langstroth style to operate on...

This sounds like something that some of us in the Alamogordo/Cloudcroft area may be interested in. Personally, a Friday morning or Sunday afternoon would work for me as Robert and I have to attend the farmers' market on Saturdays and on Wednesdays. There are a number of us using topbar hives here, but I imagine that wouldn't make any difference. Keep us posted.
