Did you know that in addition to other important public lands such as the Sandia Foothills Open Space, the Petroglyph National Monument and the Rio Grande Valley State Park, the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division preserves over 366 acres of farmland within the Albuquerque area?

We’ve joined forces with local farmers, businesses, and conservation organizations to bring attention to local agriculture and how you can help preserve the traditions of farming in our great city.

*Highlights for this year’s festival include:

  • A chance to meet and talk with the Melanie Rubin and Zoe Wilcox, the authors of the book The Home Farming Revolution
  • Live music on our shaded patio overlooking our 24 acre working farm/wildlife preserve.
  • Hay bale rides
  • Kids art table
  • Magic and juggling
  • Children’s parade and costume contest
  • Food cart
  • Self guided tours of our Traditions Garden and Land Art sculptures.
  • And more!

*Workshops and presentations on:

  • Beekeeping
  • Water harvesting
  • Beneficial insects in the garden
  • The history of food in New Mexico
  • Urban raptors and their role in the environment
  • Cooking demo

* Workshop and music schedules are subject to change.  Please see www.cabq.gov/openspace for up to date information.

Don’t forget to bring a shopping bag and purchase local produce while you visit booths from local farmers, businesses, artisans, and more!
