Ken Hays will host his annual Field Day on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Hays Honey Apple Farm, 400 Esperanza Rd., in Bosque Farms. There is a nominal fee for this event, but that covers the Porta-potties, plus table and chair rental. There will be a pot-luck lunch after the morning sessions. The afternoon is devoted to being in the bee yard. The event usually attracts between 75-125 people, from those with an interest in becoming beekeepers, to novice and experienced beekeepers as well. The New Mexico Beekeepers Association is a non-profit organization of private beekeepers, commercial beekeepers, persons interested in promoting the importance of the honey bee in the environment, and businesses related to the honey industry. Representing all regions of New Mexico, the Association maintains a close affiliation with the State of New Mexico's Department of Agriculture. Membership in the Association is open to all interested persons.
